Credit Usage

Credits meter Spark, the AI side of FocusPace. Everything else is unmetered: focus sessions, tasks, notebooks, focus cards, focus maps, and the mistake log never cost a credit, however much you use them. A credit is spent only when Spark does work for you, such as turning notes into cards or explaining a mistake you keep repeating.

The Free plan includes 50 credits a month and Premium includes 600. On the Free plan the allowance refreshes on the first of each month. On Premium it refreshes on your billing-cycle day each month, including annual plans, so an annual subscriber receives 600 credits every month rather than a year's worth at once. Upgrading hands you a fresh allowance straight away.

Costs run from 1 credit for the lightest actions, such as a task spark or study insights, to 8 credits for generating a practice test. The price reflects how much work the action does and how much it produces. The full list is in the table above, and the app prints the price on the button before you spend anything.

Your monthly allowance does not roll over. It is sized to be used within its own cycle, and whatever is left when the cycle ends is replaced by a full allowance rather than added to. Credits you have bought in a pack are different: those stay in your account until you spend them or they expire.

A credit is deducted only when Spark returns a result you can see. Repeating a request that Spark has already answered is served from the cache and costs nothing, and so does a request Spark declines as off-topic, a generation that fails, and a request refused because you are out of credits. You are never charged for an answer you did not get.

Yes. Credit packs of 250, 600, and 1500 credits are available on both the Free and Premium plans. A pack is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, so buying one does not start a recurring charge and does not require Premium.

They add to it, and they are spent second. Each action draws on your monthly allowance first and only reaches into your purchased balance once the allowance for that cycle is gone. That means a pack is never quietly burned through while you still have monthly credits in hand.

Purchased credits are valid for one year from the date of purchase. If you hold credits from more than one pack, the credits closest to expiring are spent first, so nothing lapses while newer credits are used up. The Credits Usage screen shows the expiry date of every pack you hold and warns you during the final 30 days. Credits still unused at expiry are forfeited.

Credits you bought stay in your account and remain spendable, and none of your study data is touched. What changes is the monthly allowance: it returns to the Free plan's 50 credits at your next refresh, and Spark features that require Premium stop being available regardless of your balance.

Purchases are processed by the App Store or Google Play, so refunds are handled by that store under its own policy and FocusPace cannot issue one on its behalf. Where a purchase is refunded or reversed, credits from that purchase that you have not yet spent may be withdrawn. Credits are a licence to use a metered feature rather than money: they have no cash value and cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

Open Menu and tap Credits Usage. The screen shows how many credits you have left, when the monthly allowance next refreshes, and how the balance splits between monthly and purchased credits. Below that, Where your credits went breaks the current cycle down by action, Recent activity lists the last 14 days one charge at a time, and Top-ups lists each pack you have bought with its expiry date.

Because actions are priced differently. Having 2 credits left is not the same as being out, but it is not enough for a 3-credit card generation, so that action is blocked while cheaper ones still run. The message names both numbers, what the action costs and what you hold, so you can pick something within budget or top up.

Spark pauses and the rest of FocusPace carries on exactly as before. Your timer, tasks, notes, cards, maps, and mistake log are not metered and keep working, and Spark results you have already generated stay readable. Spark resumes when your allowance refreshes, or immediately if you buy a pack.

Spark itself needs to be signed in and online, because the generation happens on our servers rather than on your device. Anything Spark has already produced is stored with your other data and stays readable offline, and reading it never costs a credit.
